Happy Valentines Day

We're not big Valentines Day people....but it's always a good reminder to show your love to those around you!  We make it a point not to buy anything for one another, but we do try to find ways to make one another feel special.  We decided to make the kids cards with a few coupons on them....they were SO excited! And proceeded to use most of them within the first day.

Someone even decided to make her true Keira fashion, she latched onto the idea of making others feel special and loved.  She made one for Levi for reading him books, since he's constantly bringing a book over to everyone and anyone.  And one for Caleb that he could play with the toys in her room, usually set aside for safekeeping from little boys.  And here are the two she made for me...

"Mama no Friday I clean house."  I usually clean the house on Fridays, so she is insisting that next week, she will be doing everything.  "Time for lay down on couch."  The second was for time to just lay on the couch...imagine that!!  I keep getting asked if I'm tired....I think she's eager for me to use my coupons : )

We had some heart shaped waffles for breakfast...thanks to the best waffle maker ever that does all the work for you!  These are a valentines day staple : )

And then we made a few stops around town.....bringing cards to the grandparents, great grandparents and then to Shirley.  We met her at Christmas time at a nearby nursing home and it has been our intention to go back to see her again sooner.  We've sort of failed at that, so we wanted to make her feel special for Valentines Day.  They made cards, a frame with their picture and a vase of flowers (so they wouldn't ever die).  It's been such a blessing to do this, because really it's even out of my comfort zone.  Caleb always holds my hand....still a little apprehensive....but Levi eagerly gives his gifts and then takes them back several times....pointing and giving random kisses.  Keira just beams happily.  We've realized again that we need to remember to bring a little something for the others, so we'll work on that for next time.  But it was sweet to see that Shirley remembered us....and was a little more open.  I wish I knew her story, but I hope someday we'll be able to learn more about her.  And if not, the whole point is just to show her love...Jesus love.

Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself."  Matthew 22:37-39
