Baby Boom

Those of you who go to Faith know that there has recently been quite the baby boom at our church! Five of the six pregnant women have given birth to beautiful babies in the past few months, with one more to come.  I love sitting in the midst of them on Sunday mornings and watching them hold, rock and love on their little ones.  It reminds me of Caleb being that age, but now it also reminds me of our little one so far away in Russia.  It is very possible that our child is just a couple of months old at this point and will eventually grow up with the babies that surround us in church each week.  This morning as I watched the moms get up and walk out to care for their babies as they began to fuss I couldn't help but pray that somewhere, someone is taking the time to care for our little child as they cry for a need to be met.  The need is great in the baby orphanages and I can only imagine the burden of caring for dozens of infants.  We pray daily for our precious child, but I'm realizing how important it is that we also pray for the orphanage workers that they have the strength, endurance, and desire to give these babies the care that they so desperately need!

Dossier Ready To Go!

Quick Update:
When you consider that we only officially applied to adopt in January, it doesn't seem that it's been that long, however for me it seems like forever since I've started preparing all of the paperwork! Today I made the final trip to the Secretary of State's office to have the last of the documents apostilled.  Aside from literally running around Providence yesterday to find the correct building to get our marriage certificates before the 36 minutes I was able to purchase from the meter with my 3 quarters, everyone was extremely helpful and things moved quickly!  Now we'll be sending our dossier to our agency in the morning and just waiting to hear when it's ready for them to forward on to Russia!  It's starting to feel more real now and we are so excited!

After a great deal of waiting we have finally received our completed written home study in the mail today!  This has been the sole missing piece of the puzzle and has kept us from moving forward in any direction for the past couple of months.  Now things get exciting!  Today I was able to send out two grant applications as well as an application to USCIS in order to bring a child into the country.  It usually takes 8-10 weeks to receive approval, however there is a lot that can happen during that waiting time.  Now that we have all of our documents we can make an appointment to have everything "apostilled" (everything has to be notarized and then apostilled, another form of authentication by the Secretary of State, in order to be sent internationally).  Once everything is apostilled we can send our dossier (all of our documents) to our agency who in turn can send them to Russia.  Once they are in Russia we could receive a referral for a child anytime!

(I was so excited I had to take a picture of the envelopes finally ready to be mailed!)

On another note, I was awakened this morning to someone banging on our door and Daisy barking like crazy!  Half asleep, I opened the door to a man who was wanting me to start the Explorer we had for sale in the driveway because he was very interested in buying it! A wonderful couple from our church had donated their Ford Explorer to us so that we could sell it and use the profits towards the adoption.  Between that and the yard sale this past weekend our savings has gone up substantially and we are so grateful.  It's amazing to see how God is working out all of the details and we're excited to see how the rest unfolds!

Thank you SO much to the Gardeners for their extreme generosity!!

Lion on the Loose!

Although we were forewarned that with the adoption process we would likely encounter obstacles and setbacks, things were going so well in the beginning that I became disillusioned into thinking we may possibly avoid such issues!  Now as we encounter one frustration after another I know that Satan is doing all that he can to keep this adoption from happening.  1 Peter 5:8 (Be careful! Watch out for attatcks from the Devil, your great enemy.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour) keeps replaying in my mind and I am determined to stand firm against him!
Today when things looked like they were about to turn around they just got worse.  I keep trying to hold on to some sense of control and I think the reigns have officially fallen away from my grasp.  Thank God that He is in control and He will be faithful to bring this child home in His time!  Thank you to all who are praying for us, we certainly need it!

On a positive note, we have been blessed with an abundance of items for our upcoming yard sale (April 14th)! It is truly amaznig how generous everyone has been.  Now we just need to keep praying for good weather and lots of yard sale shoppers!
