I recently finished reading the book " No Longer Slumdog" by K.P. Yohannan (which I would definitely recommend). The book refers to this song and the fact that "the Lord basically steps in and says, 'I am that girl'.....what now?" For most of us when we see videos like this we can't help but be moved and overwhelmed with a burden for these children. But we feel that we can't possibly help, either because there's such an overwhelming need (see my next blog, "A Difference") or because we lack the resources or ability to help. I would really encourage you to pray about how you can help because it is possible! For those of you who are able, sponsoring a child each month can make such a difference in their lives! I would really encourage you to read "No Longer Slumdog" or look into Bridge of Hope and all that Gospel for Asia is doing to change lives. God doesn't call everyone to go overseas and serve as a missionary, nor does he call everyone to adopt a child into their home....but there is something we ALL can do to help the helpless.....ask yourself....and ask God...what now?
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
